Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead day-to-day payroll operations for a high-volume, multi-state (KY, WY and NV) workforce. This is a hands-on role responsible for managing the complete payroll process while supervising one Payroll Clerk and will be onsite in Franklin, Kentucky. The ideal candidate will be comfortable rolling up their sleeves to process payroll, resolve complex payroll issues, and ensure compliance in a fast-paced environment with critical weekly deadlines. This opportunity offers the chance to oversee payroll for a large employee population across multiple locations while partnering closely with accounting and finance leadership to ensure accurate and timely payroll execution.
Job Responsibility
Manage end-to-end weekly payroll processing, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule
Oversee payroll operations for a workforce of 500+ employees across multiple locations
Administer multi-state payroll activities, maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Supervise and provide day-to-day guidance to one Payroll Clerk, assisting with training, workflow management, and issue resolution
Review payroll data, audit reports, and related information to identify and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll submission
Ensure payroll records, deductions, garnishments, taxes, and benefit withholdings are processed accurately
Partner with accounting and finance teams on payroll reporting, reconciliations, and payroll-related audits
Support payroll operations across multiple facilities while maintaining consistent policies, procedures, and controls
Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
Utilize payroll systems such as UKG Pro, PrismHR, or similar platforms to support efficient payroll administration
Requirements
5+ years of payroll experience, including full-cycle payroll processing from input through final reconciliation
Demonstrated experience managing multi-state payroll in a complex operational environment
Background handling payroll for 500 or more employees
Prior experience providing leadership or supervision within a payroll function
Strong understanding of payroll compliance requirements, payroll taxes, wage and hour regulations, and payroll best practices
Experience supporting payroll operations across multiple locations or facilities
Ability to work onsite in Franklin, Kentucky for the duration of the assignment
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
Strong attention to detail and commitment to payroll accuracy
Proficiency with payroll software and reporting tools
Nice to have
Familiarity with UKG Pro, PrismHR, or comparable payroll systems is preferred
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills are a plus
