We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee accurate and timely payroll operations for a large, multi-entity workforce based in New York, New York. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing for both hourly and salaried employees while ensuring compliance across multiple states. The ideal candidate brings strong reconciliation expertise, a detail-oriented approach, and the ability to support payroll activities for approximately 800 employees.
Job Responsibility:
Manage complete payroll operations for three business entities, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on schedule
Process bi-weekly payroll for a workforce of approximately 800 hourly and salaried team members through TriNet
Review payroll data for accuracy, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and time-related inputs before final submission
Reconcile payroll registers, general ledger entries, and related reports to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations across a multi-state employee population
Partner with internal stakeholders to address payroll questions, investigate issues, and provide timely resolution
Prepare payroll records, audit support, and documentation needed for reporting and internal controls
Support payroll-related system updates or process changes when needed, while minimizing disruption to regular payroll operations
Requirements:
At least 5 years of experience managing full-cycle payroll for employee populations of 800 or more
Demonstrated knowledge of payroll processing for both hourly and salaried employees
Hands-on experience handling multi-state payroll with a strong understanding of applicable tax and wage requirements
Background using payroll platforms
Proven ability to reconcile payroll data accurately and resolve discrepancies efficiently
Experience administering recurring payroll cycles, including bi-weekly and semi-monthly schedules
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage confidential information responsibly
