Harmonic are delighted to be working with one of the world's most recognised design practices in their search for an experienced Payroll Manager. With several exciting projects in the pipeline for 2026, this is a standout opportunity to own and shape payroll operations within a high-performing, international team, being part of a globally recognised and creative business. This position sits within a high-performing finance team of 10, reporting into the Head of Finance. You'll take ownership of payroll operations while also overseeing payment processes and treasury/banking activities across the business. The role is hands-on and requires someone comfortable working independently, while also partnering closely with HR and overseeing junior team members. There is also a focus on treasury responsibilities, the focus is on day-to-day payments, cash movements, and banking oversight. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, international environment and take pride in delivering accurate, timely payroll and payments, while continuously improving processes and controls.
Job Responsibility:
Own end-to-end payroll processing across the business, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery
Partner closely with HR to manage payroll inputs, employee changes, benefits, and statutory requirements
Oversee monthly and ad hoc payment runs, ensuring appropriate approvals, controls, and accuracy
Manage banking processes, including payment platforms, signatories, and day-to-day cash movements
Review and reconcile payroll-related accounts, ensuring accuracy across the general ledger
Ensure compliance with relevant payroll legislation, tax requirements, and internal policies
Act as the key point of contact for payroll queries, supporting employees and stakeholders across the business
Supervise and review junior team members' work, providing guidance and oversight where needed
Maintain and improve payroll and payment processes, controls, and system workflows
Support audit requirements and year-end processes related to payroll and payments
Assist with reporting and analysis relating to payroll costs, cash flow, and payment activity
Requirements:
Experience managing end-to-end payroll processes with an international business of 300+ headcount
Strong understanding of payroll legislation, compliance, and best practice
Confident communicator able to partner effectively with HR and non-finance stakeholders
Ability to work independently while maintaining high levels of accuracy and control
Strong Excel skills and experience with payroll systems
Nice to have:
Qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience (QBE)
Prior experience within architecture, design, or professional services environments
Exposure to multi-entity or international payrolls
