At Baxter, payroll is a critical operation, not a side activity. We are hiring a hands-on Payroll Manager to own, secure and continuously improve end‑to‑end Belgian payroll across all legal entities. This role is for a true payroll expert who thrives on accuracy, compliance, deadlines and complexity. You will be the Belgian payroll authority within Baxter: accountable for flawless execution, regulatory compliance, and expert guidance to employees, leadership and social partners.
Job Responsibility:
Own end‑to‑end Belgian payroll processing across multiple sites and entities
Guarantee accuracy, timeliness and compliance with Belgian social, tax and labor legislation
Act as payroll risk owner: anticipate legislative changes, assess impacts, and implement updates
Lead payroll audits, controls, reconciliations and reporting (ONSS, fisc, internal audits)
Manage relationships with payroll providers, authorities and external partners
Drive payroll efficiency through process optimization, automation and system improvements
Ensure payroll data integrity, security and GDPR compliance
Act as key contributor to payroll‑related HRIS initiatives (Workday / payroll tools)
Reduce manual work and strengthen controls through smart process design
Lead, develop and coach a dedicated payroll team
Build strong payroll expertise, accountability and knowledge sharing
Ensure continuity, documentation and business resilience
Serve as expert point of contact for complex employee payroll questions
Represent payroll in constructive social dialogue with unions and employee representatives
Provide clear, factual and compliant payroll guidance in sensitive contexts
Requirements:
8+ years of hands‑on Belgian payroll experience, ideally in a complex or multinational environment
Proven expertise in Belgian payroll legislation, social security, taxation and labor law
3+ years of payroll team leadership experience
Strong experience with payroll systems and HRIS tools
Comfortable working with unions and social bodies from a payroll/compliance perspective
Highly detail‑oriented, analytical and deadline‑driven
Fluent in French and English (Dutch is a plus)
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Accounting or similar (payroll certifications are a plus)
