We are looking for a Payroll Manager to oversee in-house payroll operations for an organization of approximately 200 employees in Bethesda, Maryland. This role is responsible for delivering accurate biweekly payroll, maintaining compliance with applicable payroll laws, and ensuring employee compensation changes are reflected correctly and on time. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with multi-state payroll administration, hands-on system expertise, and a detail-oriented approach to payroll controls and reporting.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the end-to-end processing of biweekly payroll for a workforce of about 200 employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation
Manage payroll updates related to new hires, employee departures, compensation adjustments, and benefits changes while maintaining complete and current records
Review timekeeping data in HH2, validate submitted hours, and coordinate the transfer of approved information into Sage 300 and related payroll sources
Administer in-house payroll activities within Sage 300, including earnings, deductions, reimbursements, and other employee pay components
Prepare and transmit payroll funding files to the bank on a biweekly schedule to support timely employee payments
Oversee payroll tax filings and remittances for jurisdictions including Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations
Handle employee expense reimbursement payments through payroll in accordance with company policy and established controls
Monitor payroll processes for compliance with federal, state, and local requirements and address discrepancies or issues promptly
Partner with internal stakeholders to maintain accurate payroll inputs from connected systems and support reliable payroll reporting and recordkeeping
Requirements:
Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll processing for an employee population within the 101-500 range
Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll practices, including tax withholding and filing requirements
Hands-on experience running biweekly payroll in an in-house environment
Proficiency with Sage 300 and familiarity with timekeeping system integrations such as HH2
Demonstrated ability to process payroll changes involving hires, terminations, salary updates, and benefits adjustments
Solid understanding of payroll compliance, wage and hour requirements, and payroll-related regulations
High level of accuracy, organization, and discretion when handling sensitive employee and payroll information
