A well-established manufacturing company in San Marcos is seeking a strategic and hands-on Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations for a large, multi-shift workforce. This role combines leadership, compliance expertise, and process improvement. The Payroll Manager will lead payroll operations, supervise payroll staff, and ensure accurate processing while maintaining compliance with labor laws and company policies.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees
Manage and mentor payroll team members
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Review payroll reconciliations and approve payroll runs
Partner with HR, Finance, and Operations on payroll strategy
Lead payroll audits and year-end reporting activities
Implement process improvements and system enhancements
Develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required
6+ years of payroll experience, including leadership responsibilities
Strong knowledge of California labor and payroll laws
Experience in manufacturing or high-volume payroll environments
