We are currently seeking candidates for a Payroll Manager role with a well-established financial services firm located in Boston, MA. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of multi-state U.S. payroll while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of payroll processing experience, including 3+ years of full-cycle payroll management experience. Experience with ADP payroll software is required. This is a 6-month contract position paying between $50-$55/hour (depending on experience). This role supports a hybrid work model, consisting of 3 days on-site in Boston, Massachusetts and 2 days remote/week.
Job Responsibility:
Support end-to-end processing of biweekly U.S. payroll across multi-state, exempt, and non-exempt populations
Review payroll inputs for accuracy, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, timecards, and special earnings
Process off-cycle payrolls, corrections, and retroactive pay calculations
Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Maintain data integrity across ADP Portal, ADP Vantage, and Equifax Unemployment systems
Conduct reconciliations and audits to ensure payroll accuracy and regulatory compliance
Process garnishments, levies, and other involuntary deductions
Support payroll tax reconciliations and coordination with ADP Tax
Prepare ad hoc reports and data analysis for internal stakeholders
Assist with system testing for payroll updates, enhancements, and regulatory changes
Document payroll procedures and support process improvement initiatives
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
Minimum 3 years of full-cycle payroll management experience required
Experience with ADP payroll software required
Multi-state payroll experience required
CPP or FPC certification preferred
Familiarity with expatriate and international payroll tax guidelines a plus
Strong knowledge of payroll tax compliance, wage and hour laws, and general ledger entries as they relate to payroll
Proficient in Microsoft Office with excellent written and verbal communication skills
