We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations for a manufacturing company in Cincinnati, Ohio. This role requires expertise in multi-state payroll processes, compliance, and team leadership to ensure accurate and efficient payroll management. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills and a commitment to maintaining regulatory standards.
Job Responsibility:
Direct and manage multi-state payroll operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Supervise payroll activities across various shifts and locations, including accurate calculation of shift differentials and premiums
Oversee the administration of 401(k) contributions, benefit deductions, and other payroll-related transactions
Optimize and maintain payroll systems and technology solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy
Perform audits and reconciliations of payroll data to identify and resolve discrepancies
Lead and mentor payroll team members, providing training and support to help them develop attention to detail and grow in their roles
Collaborate with HR, accounting, and finance teams to align payroll processes with organizational objectives
Stay informed about evolving payroll laws and regulations impacting multi-state and multi-location operations
Prepare and analyze payroll reports for senior management and external audits
Requirements:
A minimum of 7 years of experience in payroll management, including multi-state payroll operations
Prior experience in leading or participate in payroll system implementation projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure requirements are gathered, documented, and met throughout the project lifecycle
Strong proficiency in full-cycle payroll processes and certified payroll practices
Expertise in local payroll tax regulations, reporting, and deposit processes
Hands-on experience with HRIS payroll systems and other payroll-related technologies
In-depth knowledge of payroll tax returns, reporting, and compliance
Familiarity with managing 401(k) and other employee benefit deductions
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills to lead a team effectively
Nice to have:
CPP certification is highly preferred
