We are delighted to partner exclusively with a diversified Australian business specialising in national hospitality, accommodation, and asset management. Highly regarded for customer-centric service, they are seeking a Payroll Manager to join their prominent People and Culture team. Reporting to the Head of People and Culture, you will lead the payroll team, drive system enhancements, and manage strategic benefits to elevate employee engagement across the business.

Job Responsibility

  • Supervise, coach, and motivate the payroll team, setting clear targets and driving career development
  • Monitor processing accuracy and timeliness in alignment with Dayforce, Awards, EBAs, and legislation
  • Lead critical payroll project works, including upcoming system upgrades and software integrations
  • Oversee payroll tax returns, workers' compensation returns, and group tax reconciliations
  • Manage relationships with internal and external auditors regarding payroll functionality
  • Improve standardised and ad-hoc reporting schedules using payroll data for management reports
  • Minimise operational breakdowns in the HRIS and train system users on data input
  • Partner with HR to enhance end-to-end people processes and manage benefit programs
  • Complete annual reporting requirements including WGEA and Sustainability

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience using Dayforce for end-to-end payroll processing and reporting is required
  • Proven experience actively managing, mentoring, and upskilling a payroll team
  • Strong understanding of Australian tax laws, compliance, and complex Award/EBA interpretations
  • Advanced knowledge of HRIS, reporting tools, and end-to-end payroll functionality
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in HR/Finance OR 6+ years of practical, professional experience
  • Exceptional organisation skills to navigate competing demands in a busy environment
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a strong customer service mindset
