We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and execute comprehensive payroll processes for a mid-sized organization in Silver Spring, Maryland. This role involves managing payroll for approximately 150 employees, including both hourly and salaried staff, while ensuring precision, compliance, and adherence to deadlines. This is a short-term contract position requiring a proactive approach to payroll management and employee support.
Job Responsibility:
Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule for all employees, adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements
Verify hourly employees' work hours, overtime, and schedules to ensure correct payments
Maintain and update payroll records for new hires, terminations, pay adjustments, and deductions
Address employee questions related to payroll, timekeeping, and pay discrepancies in a timely manner
Generate detailed payroll reports for management and finance teams as required
Reconcile payroll data to identify and resolve any inconsistencies or errors
Ensure proper handling of tax withholdings, benefit deductions, and voluntary contributions
Monitor payroll compliance with labor laws and oversee year-end processes, including W-2 preparation and distribution
Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure seamless payroll operations
Support the transition and integration of payroll systems, if applicable
Requirements:
Proven experience with full-cycle payroll processing
Expertise in handling multi-state payroll operations
Familiarity with bi-weekly payroll schedules and associated requirements
Strong knowledge of payroll systems (Paychex, UKG, etc.) and the ability to adapt to new platforms
Comprehensive understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance standards
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to communicate effectively with employees and management to resolve payroll issues
Capacity to work independently and manage payroll-related tasks with minimal supervision
