The UK & Ireland Payroll Lead is the subject matter expert responsible for the end-to-end delivery of accurate and timely payroll for all UK employees. This role ensures compliance with statutory requirements, internal controls, and company policies, while providing expert guidance on all payroll-related matters. The Payroll Lead acts as owner of the payroll process and drives outcomes, solves problems, and improves delivery through effective management of payroll providers, internal stakeholders, and support teams while focusing on process improvement and elevation of employees’ experience.
Job Responsibility:
Leads execution of payrolls for UK & Ireland as assigned to ensure accurate and timely payroll processes
Maintains clear ownership of all payroll processes, controls, and governance frameworks
Puts systems and tools in place to effectively manage accurate payroll processing and issue management in ServiceNow
Develops and utilizes metrics to drive operational excellence, continuous improvement and standardization across payroll operations and systems
Ensures robust payroll process documentation and training for internal and external teams
Facilitates the resolution of issues. Engages with CloudPay and TCS representatives to align on features, integrations and issue resolutions (pre and post payroll)
Analyzes and helps interpret complex policies and payroll per in country regulatory requirements
Leads with a focus on employee education and customer service
Leads, coaches, and develops payroll team members & delivery partners to ensure strong performance, accuracy, and compliance
Teams with other Boeing organizations (e.g. Human Resources, Compensation and Benefits, Business Support Managers in region) to address and support cross-organizational payroll process
Manages relationships with external payroll vendors, auditors, and HMRC, ensuring service levels and compliance are maintained
Partners with Finance on payroll accounting, reconciliations, and reporting
Ensures payroll operations are fully compliant with UK & Ireland tax legislation, statutory reporting, and data protection requirements
Ensures and maintains compliance, by improving internal controls, guidelines to regulatory requirements
Proactively identifies risks, issues, and improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions where required
Facilitates decisions and makes recommendations regarding emerging regulatory issues with key partners including HR, Tax, and legal
Leads initiatives to optimize payroll processes through automation, system enhancements, and improved data integrity
Monitors payroll performance metrics and drive service excellence
Stays current with changes in UK payroll legislation and assess impacts on payroll operations
Requirements:
Strong understanding and knowledge of UK and Ireland payroll requirements including tax regulations, HMRC requirements
Prior experience with payroll platforms and vendor relationships including CloudPay, WorkDay and ServiceNow
Understanding of pre payroll requirements, exception scenarios and ability to analyze and troubleshoot post payroll discrepancies
Exceptional attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills
Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the different HR, Payroll, Timekeeping & Attendance systems, and process including the impact of changes in one area on another area
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across HR, Finance, and external providers
Demonstrated experience leading others — directly or through vendors & shared service teams — to deliver high-quality outcomes
Ability to see and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans, anticipate future events, and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance
