Robert Half Finance & Accounting Contract Talent is currently seeking an experienced Payroll/HR Specialist for a temporary opportunity with a growing organization. This position offers a strong opportunity to support a fast-paced accounting and HR function with both payroll processing and administrative HR responsibilities. This role will support a multi-function business environment and will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while assisting with day-to-day HR and accounting support activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong Paycom experience, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to manage both structured payroll cycles and ad hoc administrative needs.
Job Responsibility
Process semi-monthly payroll for salaried and hourly employees
Review and submit timecards through Paycom, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established deadlines
Work with department managers to ensure timely approval of employee timesheets
Manage payroll deadlines, including submission approximately two business days prior to pay dates by 1:30 PM
Handle manual payroll adjustments, including differential pay for specialized situations (e.g., overnight travel pay), tracked via spreadsheet and entered into Paycom
Support HR administrative functions, including onboarding and offboarding activities
Assist with open enrollment administration within Paycom
Maintain organized HR and payroll documentation in accordance with internal procedures
Provide general administrative support across HR and accounting functions
Assist with basic accounts payable tasks as needed and cross-train to support payroll/AP coverage
Requirements
1+ years of relevant payroll, HR, or accounting support experience
Hands-on experience using Paycom strongly preferred
Understanding of payroll processing cycles, timekeeping systems, and basic HR administration
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general administrative systems
Strong organizational and communication skills
Nice to have
Experience supporting both payroll and HR functions in a small to mid-sized organization
Exposure to accounts payable processes
Familiarity with benefits administration and open enrollment support
Ability to adapt to a cross-functional, fast-paced environment
