We are looking for a skilled and experienced Payroll Director to lead and manage payroll operations in Houston, Texas. This role requires a dedicated individual with strong attention to detail to oversee payroll processes for a diverse workforce, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across multiple states. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in payroll systems, team leadership, and regulatory compliance while driving continuous improvement in operational practices.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee the timely and accurate processing of payroll for salaried, hourly, tipped, seasonal, and union employees across multiple states
Lead and mentor payroll team members, fostering growth and achievement of departmental goals
Generate and analyze payroll reports to support executive leadership, local management, and various departments such as Human Resources, Benefits, and Accounting
Develop and implement procedures and controls to ensure proper payroll accounting and compliance with unclaimed property regulations
Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and issues for internal departments, ensuring a high level of customer service
Coordinate payroll audits, including those for workers' compensation, regulatory agencies, and internal or external reviews
Continuously evaluate and enhance payroll processes, recommending and integrating new technologies and automation solutions
Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure accurate benefit deductions and employee record maintenance
Stay current on payroll regulations across the U.S. and Canada, ensuring compliance and advising management on necessary actions
Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll data and develop contingency plans for emergency payroll processing scenarios
Requirements:
