We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our team in Petersburg, Virginia. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with labor laws and company protocols. This position requires a high level of confidentiality, precision, and the ability to manage payroll data efficiently for both craft and salaried employees.
Job Responsibility:
Process weekly payroll for employees, including both craft and salaried staff
Collect and validate timesheets, field reports, job codes, and hours worked to ensure accuracy
Input payroll data, including hours, deductions, reimbursements, and adjustments into the payroll system
Address pay adjustments, corrections, and inquiries from employees in a thorough and attentive manner
Collaborate with project managers and field supervisors to coordinate payroll information
Maintain organized and compliant payroll files for auditing purposes
Review and reconcile per diem, travel allowances, and other reimbursements
Assist with processing garnishments, child support orders, and tax withholdings
Support reporting requirements related to workers’ compensation and union obligations
Requirements:
Proficiency with Sage 300 or similar payroll software
Experience handling multi-state payroll processes
Familiarity with union or prevailing wage reporting requirements
Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll or data entry, preferably in construction or industrial settings
Strong knowledge of payroll deductions, overtime regulations, and labor laws
Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, sorting, and maintaining data accuracy
Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
