The Payroll Clerk supports the payroll function by assisting with accurate and timely payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees. This role will support union and non-union payroll, making attention to detail, confidentiality, and follow-through critical. Union payroll exposure will be provided—prior union experience is not required.
Job Responsibility:
Assist with processing weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly payroll
enter and audit timesheets, hours worked, and payroll data
support payroll calculations including regular, overtime, and adjustments
assist with union payroll support (rates, job codes, deductions, reporting)
maintain employee payroll records and documentation
respond to employee payroll questions and basic inquiries
assist with payroll reconciliations and variance reviews
support compliance with payroll regulations and internal controls
prepare payroll reports and support audits as needed
maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee data
Requirements:
High school diploma or associate degree
bachelor preferred
1-3+ years of payroll, administrative, or accounting support experience
strong attention to detail and accuracy
comfort working with deadlines and recurring payroll schedules
basic proficiency in Excel and data entry
ability to handle confidential information with discretion
