Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join a team in Ohio in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent role. This position supports accurate and timely payroll activities while serving as a reliable resource for employee pay-related questions. The ideal candidate brings strong Excel skills, practical payroll experience, and a service-focused approach in a fully onsite environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Process regular payroll accurately and on schedule for a multi-employee workforce while maintaining compliance with company procedures
  • Review payroll data for completeness and resolve discrepancies involving earnings, deductions, and time-related information
  • Handle employee paycheck matters and respond promptly to questions related to pay, tax forms, and year-end W-2 documentation
  • Administer payroll items such as garnishments and other withholdings with careful attention to deadlines and accuracy
  • Use Excel and Microsoft Office tools to organize payroll records, validate data, and prepare supporting reports
  • Work closely with supervisors and internal partners to address payroll issues and ensure smooth day-to-day processing
  • Support payroll-related system activities and assist with process updates, including work connected to Workday where needed

Requirements

  • Prior experience processing payroll in a detail-oriented business environment
  • Knowledge of full-cycle payroll procedures, including deductions and garnishments
  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to manage and verify payroll data efficiently
  • Ability to answer employee payroll questions clearly and effectively
  • Familiarity with W-2 inquiries and general payroll tax documentation
  • Exposure to multi-state payroll is preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • familiarity with Workday is a plus
  • Customer-focused mindset with a positive attitude and dependable work ethic
