We are looking for a knowledgeable Part-Time Payroll Clerk to join a team in Toronto, ON.
Job Responsibility:
Process employee timesheets and payroll data to ensure accurate and timely compensation for all staff in accordance with Canadian federal and provincial standards
Maintain payroll records and update employee information including TD1 tax forms, direct deposit details, and wage adjustments
Calculate gross pay, statutory deductions including CPP, EI, and federal and provincial income tax, as well as net pay
Issue and verify bi-weekly or monthly statements of earnings, including vacation pay, bonuses, and taxable benefits
Prepare and submit Records of Employment (ROE) to Service Canada within required timeframes for departing employees
Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay cheques, T4 slips, benefit deductions, and union dues with professional clarity
Collaborate with the human resources department to verify new hire data, leaves of absence, and group benefit enrollments
Prepare and distribute payroll reports, remittances, and summaries for management and government agencies like the CRA
Reconcile payroll bank statements and identify any discrepancies to be resolved in accordance with internal controls
Assist with year-end processing including the generation and distribution of T4 and T4A slips and other relevant tax documents
Ensure the strict confidentiality of sensitive financial and personal information at all times
Requirements:
A post-graduate diploma or degree in either business administration or accounting is required
PCP or PLP certification is a very strong asset
A minimum of 1 year of experience processing payroll for employees in Ontario
Experience working with ADP WFN, or other similar payroll software is a strong asset
Experience or knowledge of accounting standards is a strong asset
Ability to work 3 full working days is required
