As the Payroll & CIS Senior, you will play a pivotal role in assuring the accurate and timely processing of payrolls for our diverse client portfolio. Additionally, you will be working in the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering exceptional service to our clients. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented payroll professional based in South Africa who has experience processing UK payrolls and enjoys working with multiple clients in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Job Responsibility:
Involved in the day-to-day operations of the payroll and CIS service, ensuring efficient workflow management and adherence to deadlines
Utilise advanced payroll software to maintain accurate client pay records and process weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payrolls
Apply expert knowledge of payroll legislation and regulations to calculate and reconcile statutory deductions, including income tax, national insurance, pensions, SSP, SMP, SAP, SPP, and CIS deductions
Handle complex payroll queries and issues, conducting thorough investigations and providing effective resolutions in a timely manner
Involved in the preparation and submission of statutory payroll and CIS returns, including FPS, EPS, and CIS300
Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll information
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including partners and other departments, to ensure alignment of payroll and CIS processes with overall business objectives
Stay up to date on changes in payroll legislation and industry best practices, proactively implementing necessary updates and communicating changes to relevant stakeholders
Requirements:
Proven experience in payroll, ideally working on multiple payrolls, within an accountancy practice
Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and compliance
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Confident working independently in a remote environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working to deadlines and managing competing priorities
Calm, professional, and solutions-focused under pressure
Payroll experience is essential
UK payroll experience highly advantageous
Strong computer literacy, including: Payroll software (experience in IRIS Payroll Professional, Brightpay or Staffology will be beneficial)
Microsoft Excel (Advanced)
Microsoft Teams
Xero (experience is required to enable assisting our clients with the posting of payroll journals)
