Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Benefits/Retirement Analyst to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Downey, California. In this role, you will ensure accurate payroll tax reporting, reconciliation, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will play a key part in maintaining payroll accuracy, supporting district payroll teams, and contributing to the organization's ongoing initiatives.

Job Responsibility:

  • Retirement Contributions Weekly Trigger Review
  • Review, research and reconcile all retirement deductions are calculated correctly prior to the final payroll run
  • Identify and resolve contribution discrepancies by uploading correction (OTDED/PDED) files to HCM
  • Communicate necessary corrections and coordinate with district when applicable
  • Retirement Reporting & Updating Enrollment in STRS/PERS
  • Assist with the review and reconciliations of retirement reporting and contributions
  • Resolve submission errors and ensure successful acceptance retirement files by STRS/PERS deadlines
  • Process enrollment and termination updates in STRS/PERS
  • Submit reconciliation control logs to district support staff communication monetary changes made to retirement files

Requirements:

  • Strong foundational CalSTRS/CalPERS knowledge, payroll knowledge, HR knowledge
  • Experience processing unit testing
  • Experience performing retirement earnings and contribution reconciliation in a multi-district or complex organizational environment
  • Working knowledge of retirement rules, special compensation and stipend earnings, K-12, and Community College stipends
  • Demonstrated ability to support and train end users with retirement related inquiries
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing and reconciliation
