We're seeking an experienced leader to own and drive our payroll function for our 1,200 employees across Canada and the USA. As a Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for managing the entire payroll function, supervising a team of payroll specialists, and implementing process improvements to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll operations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead a high-performing team of payroll & benefits specialists
  • Own the payroll and benefits processing from start to finish for 1,200 employees across Canada and the USA
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including HR, Finance, and Legal
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including enrollments, terminations, billing reconciliation, and compliance
  • Drive continuous improvement, leveraging technology and process enhancements to optimize payroll operations
  • Streamline the time and attendance processes and optimizing workflows
  • Navigate the complex landscape of payroll and benefits regarding federal, state, provincial, and local regulations
  • Achieve and maintain a payroll accuracy rate of 99.9% or higher
  • Resolve complex and escalated employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits
  • Support the accounting and FP&A teams in clarifying any payroll related variances
  • Track and analyze key metrics and provide leadership with actionable insights
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to varied audiences
  • Lead the preparation and completion of year-end reconciliations, tax filings, and other compliance reporting

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of payroll experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role
  • Proven expertise in multi-jurisdictional payroll in Canada and the USA
  • Advanced proficiency in payroll & HCM systems (UKG a requirement)
  • Retail industry experience highly desirable
  • Fully bilingual (English-French) with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work collaboratively cross functionally
  • Impeccable customer service
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage payroll calendars, checklists, and team workflows
  • Proactive and analytical mindset, with expertise in process improvement, problem-solving, and attention to detail
  • Collaborative team player with a results-driven approach, able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
