We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Payroll Back Office Analyst to join our People Services team. This role supports front-line payroll processing activities for U.S. and Canada operations, ensuring accurate data entry, timely resolution of employee inquiries, and compliance with payroll policies and procedures.
Job Responsibility:
Enter and maintain employee payroll data including new hires, terminations, and compensation changes
Respond to Tier 1 escalations regarding paychecks, deductions, timekeeping, overpayments, banking and other payroll related matters
Perform payroll corrections including live error corrections, routine rate audits for salary and hourly employees
Support the setup and maintenance of direct deposit and banking information
Complaint Handling and Escalation: Ensures timely resolution of Tier 1 issues and concerns
Create letters for W-2 and 1099 corrections, overpayment letters and Notice of Change letters
Processing of all the required payroll activities
Prioritizing and working on requests according to nature, urgency, and impact
Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling sensitive payroll data
Continuous Improvement: Suggest process improvements necessary for operational efficiencies and service excellence
Maintaining and updating job aids and standard operating procedures knowledgebase
Operational Efficiency: Complying with the Global service level agreement, GM Corporate policies, and external regulatory requirements
Maintaining confidentiality of employee information
Performing based on the approved guidelines and job aids
Performing peer check / post audit escalated issues and pre and post payroll audits
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree
1–2 years of U.S. and Canada payroll experience
Strong understanding of US and Canada payroll concepts, taxes, and deductions
Experience (proficiency preferred) in payroll platforms such as ADP Global View, ADP Smart Compliance, Cognos, SAP, eSAP, Workday, Kronos, and UKG Pro and KNIME
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Experience with case management systems like ServiceNow or Siebel
Excellent communication and customer service abilities
Email etiquette
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
Nice to have:
Power BI experience
Experience in a shared services or global payroll environment
Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma)
Familiarity with U.S. and Canadian labor laws and payroll compliance standards
Experience supporting payroll audits and SOX compliance
