We’re now looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Assistant / Trainee to join our Finance Operations Team in the Isle of Man. This is a great opportunity for someone at the early stages of their career — whether you’re a school leaver or have some administrative or payroll experience — who’s keen to build a long-term career in payroll and finance. You’ll gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, timesheet-driven environment, with a clear pathway into a Payroll Specialist role.
Job Responsibility:
Support the preparation and processing of weekly payroll
Review timesheets and accurately input payroll data
Carry out payroll checks and help resolve discrepancies
Work to strict payroll deadlines
Support subcontractor payments and related administration
Assist with subcontract ledger activities, including verification, set-ups, CIS checks and reconciliations
Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation
Support starters, leavers and employee changes
Respond to payroll queries from employees and site teams
Ensure payroll processes are followed consistently and accurately
Handle confidential payroll and employee information appropriately
Provide general administrative support to the finance team
Assist with reconciliations and data checks
Support wider finance tasks as required
Requirements:
GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good organisational skills and ability to follow structured processes
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
A willingness to learn and develop within payroll and finance
Nice to have:
Some experience in a payroll, finance or administrative role
Experience in a construction or timesheet-driven environment
Familiarity with timesheets, data entry or working with numerical information
A genuine interest in building a long-term career in payroll or finance
