Job Description:

A growing manufacturer in central CT is seeking a Payroll & AP Operations Manager to support the Controller and CFO. This role will lead key finance and payroll operations across a multi-entity, with primary responsibility for payroll accounting, multi-state tax compliance, accounts payable, and travel & expense controls.

Job Responsibility:

  • Own end-to-end processes and controls across: Payroll
  • Accounts Payable

  • Manage payroll cycles
  • Oversee payroll-related activities, including: 401(k)
  • Tax withholdings
  • Garnishments
  • Benefits
  • Workers' compensation claims
  • Review and approve payroll journals, accruals, and related reporting
  • Reconcile payroll- and AP-related balance sheet accounts and resolve variances
  • Ensure compliance with multi-state payroll tax filings and statutory requirements
  • Support finance systems integration and process improvement initiatives
  • Partner with leadership to strengthen core financial controls and reporting integrity

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 6–10+ years of accounting experience with strong payroll expertise
  • Experience in a multi-entity environment preferred
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Experience leading or supporting ERP and payroll/HRIS implementations preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll, including responsibility for full-cycle payroll processing
  • Demonstrated experience administering multi-state payroll and managing related tax compliance requirements
  • Background in payroll accounting, reconciliations, and financial controls within a U.S. business environment
  • Working knowledge of accounts payable processes and employee expense reimbursement administration
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
