To support the Finance Department with the accurate and timely processing of payroll and delivery of day‑to‑day financial administration. The role ensures employees are paid correctly, financial records are well maintained, and the organisation complies with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibility:
Process weekly payrolls accurately and on schedule for all employees
Prepare payroll journals and reconcile payroll control accounts
Ensure all statutory deductions (PAYE, NIC, pension contributions, student loans, etc.) are correctly calculated and submitted
Administer pension scheme contributions
Manage statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP
Produce P45s, P60s and yearend payroll submissions
Manage the payroll email inboxes
Maintain employee payroll records and resolve payroll queries from employees promptly and professionally
Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and employment legislation
Assist with audit schedules as required
Assist with purchase ledger, sales ledger and expense processing
Reconcile supplier statements and support timely payment runs
Support bank reconciliations and cashbook postings
Assist with month end processes such as journal preparation and balance sheet reconciliations
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for audit purposes
Support credit control activities where required
Help prepare financial reports and analysis for the CFO
Assist with emails across both companies
Requirements:
Ability to handle sensitive payroll and employee information in a confidential and professional manner
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
High attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Personal Attributes - High integrity, analytical and proactive
Understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
Experience of bringing payroll in house from an external company
