Job Description

Are you a seasoned payroll professional with a strong grasp of group benefits administration looking to advance your career with a trusted industry leader? We are currently seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Specialist to support our growing operations in Burlington, Ontario. In this critical role, you will report directly to the Payroll Manager and take full ownership of the timely, accurate processing of full-cycle bi-weekly payrolls across three separate corporate entities.

Job Responsibility

  • Execute full-cycle, bi-weekly payroll processing workflows for three individual company portfolios utilizing Ceridian Dayforce
  • Oversee the day-to-day corporate group benefits administration and Group RRSP plan updates, managing premium adjustments and changes
  • Review electronic time-tracker sheets and collaborate closely with supervisors/managers to resolve timecard errors or tracking discrepancies
  • Maintain, audit, and update employee master records regarding statutory tax parameters, localized deductions, and specialized earnings setups
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, process journal entries, and coordinate monthly remittance requests for Union dues, benefit invoices, and WSIB
  • Audit documentation for new hires, organizational transfers, and terminations to ensure continuous legislative alignment
  • Support the generation, verification, and filing of year-end tax slips (T4s) along with system rollover activities into the new fiscal year
  • Provide clear, consistent interpretations of Collective Agreements, Employment Standards Act (ESA), and Canada Labour Code (CLC) regulations
  • Act as the principal point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll discrepancies, tax deductions, and benefit allocations
  • Identify system inefficiencies and actively participate in driving automated process improvement initiatives within the finance & accounting unit

Requirements

  • Proven expertise using Ceridian Dayforce or a highly integrated, modern enterprise HRIS payroll system
  • Deep understanding of Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA), Canada Labour Code (CLC), and unionized payroll frameworks
  • Strong foundational knowledge of group benefits administration and corporate retirement savings structures (RRSP)
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to manipulate data tables and pivot functions within MS Excel
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills to navigate stakeholder relations
  • Strong organizational capability to manage tight deadlines, high-volume processing cycles, and conflicting priorities under pressure
  • Logical, methodical problem-solving framework with an absolute commitment to data security and employee confidentiality
