We are looking for a Payroll Administrator to support a retail and apparel organization in New York, New York. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for a payroll specialist who can manage accurate, timely pay processing for a large hourly workforce in a fast-paced environment. The person in this role will oversee end-to-end payroll activities, help maintain compliance across multiple states, and contribute to a dependable payroll experience for approximately 800 employees.
Job Responsibility
Administer bi-weekly payroll for a high-volume population of hourly employees, ensuring wages are processed accurately and on schedule
Manage full-cycle payroll tasks, including time review, earnings calculations, deductions, adjustments, and final validation before submission
Support payroll operations for employees working in multiple states while applying applicable tax, wage, and compliance requirements
Review payroll data for discrepancies and resolve issues related to hours worked, pay rates, garnishments, or employee records
Maintain payroll records and documentation in alignment with company policies and audit standards
Partner with HR, finance, and operations teams to address payroll questions and ensure employee information is kept current
Use ADP payroll tools to process transactions, update records, and generate reporting as needed
Assist with payroll-related reconciliations and help improve the accuracy and efficiency of payroll workflows
Requirements
Demonstrated experience handling full-cycle payroll from initial data review through final processing
Background supporting multi-state payroll with a strong understanding of compliance considerations
Prior experience processing payroll for a workforce ranging from 101 to 500+ employees, with the ability to support larger employee populations
Proficiency using ADP for payroll administration and related reporting
Experience running bi-weekly payroll on a consistent schedule
Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and correct payroll discrepancies efficiently
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments
