Job Description

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for assisting the Payroll Operations Manager with all aspects of payroll for First Trust Portfolios and their domestic and international affiliates.

Job Responsibility

  • Assist in processing the full payroll cycle for all entities including data input, transmission, auditing, reporting, balancing, and reconciliation
  • Prepare regular reports such as quarterly 401k matching, benefit billing summaries, and overtime
  • Manage state-specific tax/insurance reporting and billing
  • Partner with internal Tax and Accounting departments for payroll account and G/L reconciliations, and regular reporting
  • Provide information to third-parties including vendors and audit teams
  • Answer manager and employee questions, and resolve payroll issues
  • Maintain employee payroll files

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
  • 5+ years of payroll experience
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and Department of Labor regulations, including tax regulations and garnishments
  • Knowledge of ADP WorkforceNow payroll processing
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), or other Payroll certification
  • Outstanding Excel and data analysis capabilities
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and problem-solving skills
  • Customer service skills and the ability to interact with employees
  • Ability to work within a team or individual environment
  • Ability to maintain and promote a high standard of confidentiality
