We are looking for a dedicated Payroll Administrator to join our team in Chaska, Minnesota. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to manage payroll operations for a large workforce while contributing to the efficiency of government services. The role combines both onsite and remote work, requiring three days per week in the office.
Job Responsibility:
Process biweekly payroll for over 190 permanent employees, along with 300+ contract employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Manage year-end payroll tasks, including the preparation of W-2 forms
Handle tax remittances and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations
Assist the existing payroll lead as needed to maintain smooth operations
Perform payroll reconciliation and resolve discrepancies
Generate detailed payroll reports and provide insights to relevant stakeholders
Prepare payment requests for accounts payable and ensure proper documentation
Work with payroll data, exporting and analyzing it in Excel to support various processes
Requirements:
Proficiency in payroll management, including experience handling payroll for over 500 employees
Intermediate Excel skills, including the ability to use VLOOKUPs and pivot tables effectively
Ability to learn quickly and work independently with minimal supervision
Familiarity with a larger payroll system
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure compliance and accuracy
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team environment
Nice to have:
Prior experience in city or government payroll processes is a plus
