A contracting firm in Stamford is seeking a Payroll Administrator to join their growing team. The Payroll Administrator will process timely and accurate multi-state payroll for 500+ employees, with an expectation and commitment to operational excellence, compliance, and employee support, as needed.
Job Responsibility:
Manage full-cycle, multi-state payroll processing for 500+ employees (bi-weekly cycle)
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax filings and wage laws
Administer and optimize payroll systems, including ADP and Workday
Maintain payroll records, reports, and audits with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
Coordinate with HR, Finance, and project management teams to ensure seamless payroll operations
Handle complex payroll scenarios including union payroll, prevailing wage, bonuses, and deductions
Lead payroll audits and support internal/external audit processes
Troubleshoot payroll discrepancies and resolve employee inquiries in a timely manner
Implement process improvements and best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field is preferred, but not required
5+ years of payroll experience, preferably in construction or contracting industries
Strong experience with multi-state payroll processing for large employee populations (500+)
Hands-on experience with payroll ERP such as ADP and Workday
In-depth knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
