Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Controller, the Payroll Administrator performs the coordination of all activities supportive of preparing, processing, and distributing the organization’s payroll. This position collaborates with Human Resources and Ceridian Dayforce (the software/payroll service provider), to assure the accuracy and integrity of the payroll/HR database. The Payroll Administrator is responsible for compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations regarding accurate pay and provides accurate reporting and audit deliverables to internal and external stakeholders. They also provide support to the Accounting department, as needed, in addition to being responsible for representing the division on internal and external committees as needed.

Job Responsibility

  • Create and maintain files and records relating to payroll that are supported by source documentation
  • Audit employee timesheets / clock punches for each payroll period to ensure there are no errors / missing punches
  • Set up and/or audit employee direct deposit, garnishments, benefit, and 403b deductions
  • Prepare and input data and verify output as necessary to produce a timely and accurate payroll for distribution to employees
  • Respond to employee and third-party inquiries regarding payroll matters as well as garnishments and support orders
  • Serve as liaison with HR department, as well as the Ceridian Dayforce Managed Payroll team (including creating help tickets and following up on requests)
  • Create and prepare payroll reports as requested and or required
  • Perform weekly, quarterly, and semi-annual payment and State payroll taxes
  • Develop documents and maintain procedures for payroll functions
  • Team with fellow Accounting staff as needed
  • Be willing to accept other short-term duties that may be assigned from time to time

Requirements

  • Proficient with Dayforce Ceridian HRIS, specifically with functions associated with Payroll Administrator privileges
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel and Powerpoint skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organization skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences
  • Able to be discreet with confidential/sensitive information
  • Able to work independently and take initiative
  • Able to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and efficiency while meeting deadlines
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities
  • Detail-oriented, team player and strong work ethic
  • Knowledgeable in federal, state and local laws/regulations related to payroll issues
  • Possession of a valid California motor vehicle operating license
  • Possession of a High School Diploma required, college level coursework in accounting preferred
  • Two (2) years professional experience in payroll processing required
