We are looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator to support a high-volume manufacturing environment in Troy, Michigan. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who can manage payroll operations with minimal supervision, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and maintain accuracy in a fast-moving setting. The role supports a workforce of approximately 800 to 1,000 employees, including union payroll, across weekly and semi-monthly pay cycles.
Job Responsibility
Process full-cycle payroll for a large employee population across weekly and semi-monthly schedules, ensuring timely and accurate pay distribution
Administer payroll for both hourly and salaried employees, including a union employee group that may require prompt handling of contract-related payments and supporting information
Review payroll data for completeness and accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and respond to payroll issues in a timely manner
Manage multi-state payroll activities while maintaining compliance with applicable wage, tax, and reporting requirements
Use Excel functions such as pivot tables and lookups to analyze payroll data and support file imports and exports
Work independently to balance recurring payroll tasks with urgent requests in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Assist with payroll training and operational readiness so processes are well established ahead of upcoming organizational timelines
Partner with internal stakeholders to provide payroll-related reporting, documentation, and audit support as needed
Requirements
At least 5 years of payroll administration experience in a high-volume environment
Proven background processing full-cycle payroll for employee populations ranging from several hundred to 1,000 employees
Experience handling multi-state payroll and maintaining payroll compliance across jurisdictions
Hands-on experience with UKG highly prefered
Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and working with payroll data imports and exports
Ability to manage union payroll matters with accuracy and discretion
Comfortable working independently and shifting between priorities in a busy, deadline-driven setting
