We are actively looking for a a Payroll Administrator for a contract to hire opportunity with our client in the Los Banos market! This role will be working on-site Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00p.m.
Job Responsibility:
Process bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Maintain payroll records, including wages, deductions, and overtime
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Prepare payroll reports and reconcile discrepancies
Address employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues promptly
Calculate staffing timesheets manually (weekly) and assist with accounts payable
Maintain personnel files, I-9 forms, and manage unemployment claims
Support onboarding and offboarding processes
Administer employee benefits: enrollment, changes, terminations, and inquiries
Reconcile monthly health benefits billing, including COBRA administration
Process qualifying benefits events and support Paycom transactions
Support employee performance reviews and relations
Manage company safety and mandatory training coordination
Oversee leave administration (FMLA/CFRA, PDL)
Manage workers’ compensation claims, reporting, and OSHA log updates
Report and track 401(k) contributions for census and compliance
Ensure adherence to employment laws and internal policies
Assist with audits, workers’ compensation, and unemployment claims
Prepare HR and payroll reports for management
Handle confidential information with discretion
Respond to employee HR inquiries professionally and promptly
Assist with HR policy updates and documentation
Contribute to recruiting and training initiatives as needed
Requirements:
2+ years experience in payroll administration, HR is a plus
Solid knowledge of payroll systems and HRIS platforms (Paycom experience a plus)
Familiarity with federal and state employment laws
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
High attention to detail and accuracy
Discretion handling confidential information
Solid time management and multitasking skills
Customer-focused approach
Nice to have:
5+ years payroll experience
Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
Experience in construction or agriculture sectors is a plus
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
