We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join a dynamic team in Appleton, Wisconsin. While the organization is based in Appleton, this opportunity is 100% remote, allowing you to contribute from anywhere while working Central Time Zone hours and supporting a collaborative, fast-paced team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations. This long-term contract opportunity offers the chance to work closely with leadership, HR professionals, and team members to streamline payroll operations and support organizational goals. Job Responsibility:
Process bi-weekly payroll with precision to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time
Verify tax deductions, employee contributions, and garnishments, including managing year-end adjustments and reconciliations
Review and audit electronic timecards, ensuring proper completion and supervisor approvals
Respond to employee and manager inquiries related to payroll, time and attendance, policies, and benefits, while identifying opportunities to improve processes and prevent recurring issues
Manage direct deposit setups, tax withholding forms, employment verifications, and garnishment processing
Prepare, reconcile, and submit federal and state payroll tax filings, including W-2s and 941s
Assist with annual payroll adjustments such as rate increases, bonuses, and special payments, ensuring all changes are accurately audited and processed
Support benefits administration and perform payroll audits as needed to ensure compliance and accuracy
Train employees and managers on the time and attendance system to improve efficiency and ensure proper usage
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources, business administration, or a related field
Minimum of three years of experience in corporate payroll or accounting
Proficiency in handling full-cycle payroll operations, including multi-state payroll and managing payroll for medium-sized organizations (101-500 employees)
Experience with payroll systems such as Workday and UKG Pro
Strong understanding of federal and state wage and hour regulations, as well as payroll tax laws
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
