Robert Half is looking for Payroll Administrator candidates who know how to effectively problem solve, and possess a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Based in Salem, Massachusetts, the Payroll Administrator position is a long-term contract / contract opportunity. Job Responsibility:
Execute relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports to circulate amongst department heads
Protect confidential payroll operation information and maintain employee confidence
Detail all payroll liabilities by establishing employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payment
Manage and review, including verify, source documents
Other duties as assigned
Maintaining payroll operations by following policies and procedures
reporting needed changes
Payroll information management via collecting, calculating, and entering data
Organize and compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages in order to draft relevant reports
Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines
Manage payroll information requests and questions
Provide help with all internal and external audits of payroll
Maintain all updates of payroll records by tracking changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers
Manage issues related to employee deductions and other liabilities, including reconciling
Collect and analyze information including resolving payroll discrepancies
Requirements:
Excellent data entry skills
Mastery of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements
Expertise with internal controls
Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills
Well-informed in basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen
Deep understanding of account management
Comprehensive knowledge of customer service
Payroll Functions experience
Capable of managing high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.
2+ years of relevant experience in payroll
Prior experience working with accounting software
Nice to have:
Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred
Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"
