We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join a team in Nashville, Tennessee in a contract-to-permanent position. This role is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate payroll administration while supporting related accounting activities and maintaining organized employee payroll documentation. The ideal candidate brings strong payroll expertise, comfort working with reporting and compliance tasks, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams.
Job Responsibility:
Administer end-to-end payroll processing using payroll, timekeeping, and operations systems to ensure employees are paid accurately and on schedule
Maintain complete and up-to-date payroll files, registers, earnings records, and supporting documents in accordance with company and compliance standards
Review and manage payroll deductions, benefit withholdings, direct deposits, garnishments, and levies with a high degree of accuracy
Generate payroll-related reports and prepare customized employee or audit support documentation as needed
Handle workers’ compensation payroll calculations and maintain required records tied to related reporting obligations
Compile payroll details after each cycle, prepare supporting entries, and upload finalized information to the general ledger
Coordinate with Human Resources to verify employee data changes and ensure payroll records reflect current and accurate information
Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 distribution, retirement-related calculations, and assistance with pension, 401(k), and other annual audits
Provide backup assistance for pay statement distribution and contribute support to selected accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed
Complete recurring labor and compliance reporting, including monthly submissions for external agencies
Requirements:
Experience managing full-cycle payroll processing for a workforce environment with approximately 101 to 500 employees
Knowledge of multi-state payroll practices, including employee deductions, garnishments, and other payroll compliance requirements
Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now or similar ADP payroll platforms
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the use of VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and data validation tools
Familiarity with payroll reporting, ad hoc analysis, and preparing documentation for audits or general ledger support
Experience working with pension administration, retirement payment calculations, or related benefits processes
Ability to maintain accuracy with confidential data while meeting recurring deadlines in a fast-paced setting
