We are looking for an experienced Payroll Accountant to join our team in Mukilteo, Washington. In this long-term contract position, you will play a key role in managing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and maintaining accurate financial records. Job Responsibility:
Process payroll, including reviewing timesheets for accuracy and approval, and managing voluntary and involuntary deductions
Prepare and file quarterly and annual tax reports while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations
Reconcile payroll-related liabilities to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies through detailed research and analysis
Maintain payroll records, update data tables, schedules, and leave plans within the payroll module
Issue W-2 forms, reconcile reports, and ensure compliance with Social Security and Affordable Care Act requirements
Implement payroll actions in alignment with collective bargaining agreements
Develop and maintain forms and systems to ensure efficient control of payroll records and timesheets
Handle payment processing for employee benefits, federal taxes, garnished wages, and child support
Assist with budgeting processes, including salary and position analysis
Serve as a backup for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and business licensing functions when needed
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll, accounts payable, or accounts receivable, demonstrating strong attention to detail
Strong knowledge of payroll tax reporting and compliance regulations
Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and their impact on payroll processes
Proficiency in full-cycle payroll management and biweekly payroll processing
Ability to reconcile accounts and maintain accurate financial records
Experience with payroll systems such as Eden or Tyler is preferred
Knowledge of government accounting practices and multiple fund management
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
