We are looking for an experienced Payroll Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in San Luis Obispo, California. This position plays a key role in overseeing payroll operations, ensuring precise financial reporting, and providing support for budgetary processes related to payroll activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and the ability to manage payroll functions effectively while delivering excellent service to staff and management.
Job Responsibility:
Process and manage full-cycle payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Utilize ADP Workforce Now for payroll processing and reporting
Handle multi-state payroll operations, adhering to compliance and regulatory requirements
Prepare and submit payroll tax reports, ensuring timely and accurate filings
Collaborate with accounts payable to reconcile payroll-related transactions
Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure payroll accounts are balanced
Review and analyze financial statements to identify discrepancies related to payroll
Provide courteous and attentive support to staff and management regarding payroll inquiries
Maintain payroll records and documentation in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
Assist with budgetary planning and financial analysis related to payroll activities
Requirements:
Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or at least 4 years of hands-on experience
Proven experience in full-cycle payroll processing, preferably in a multi-state environment
Proficiency in using ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll systems
Strong knowledge of payroll tax reporting and compliance regulations
Experience in accounts payable and bank reconciliations
Ability to analyze financial statements and identify payroll-related discrepancies
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong communication skills with the ability to address payroll inquiries professionally
Familiarity with budgetary planning and payroll accounting processes
