Mid-sized professional services business in the New Cumberland area is seeking a detail‑oriented Payroll Accountant to join their accounting team and support accurate, compliant payroll operations while assisting with general accounting functions.
Job Responsibility:
Process weekly/biweekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Maintain payroll records, employee files, tax documentation, and system data
Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll-related journal entries
Handle wage garnishments, deductions, and benefit-related payroll transactions
Assist with month-end close activities, including payroll accruals and reporting
Collaborate with HR on onboarding, employee changes, and policy compliance
Respond to employee payroll inquiries with a professional, customer‑service mindset
Support audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting as needed
Requirements:
2–5 years of payroll processing experience
Strong understanding of payroll laws, taxes, and compliance requirements
Experience with payroll software (ADP, Paychex, UKG, or similar)
Solid Excel skills — comfort with formulas, exporting data, reconciliations, etc.
Knowledge of general accounting practices, including journal entries and reconciliations
High attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to meet deadlines
