A mission-driven nonprofit organization in Somerville is seeking a Contract Accountant with strong payroll experience to support their finance team. This is a hybrid role offering flexibility, meaningful work, and the opportunity to make an impact in the community.
Job Responsibility:
Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time
Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal/state regulations
Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
Support month-end close tasks, including reconciliations and journal entries
Prepare financial reports and assist with audit-related documentation
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate financial data
Requirements:
2+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on payroll
Experience in a nonprofit environment preferred
Strong understanding of payroll systems and general accounting principles
Proficiency with Excel and accounting software
High attention to detail and ability to work independently
Strong communication and organizational skills
