Partnering with a growing Central Valley company to place a Payroll Accountant who can own the full payroll cycle while supporting the broader accounting team. This is a great fit for someone who is detail oriented, comfortable in a mid-size company environment, and wants to be more than just a check processor. Job Responsibility

  • Process multi-state payroll for salaried and hourly employees on a bi-weekly or semi-monthly schedule
  • Reconcile payroll accounts, record journal entries, and support month-end close
  • Manage payroll tax filings, including 941s, state withholdings, and year-end W-2 processing
  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
  • Coordinate with HR on new hires, terminations, garnishments, and benefit deductions
  • Assist with audits by preparing payroll-related schedules and documentation
  • Identify and flag discrepancies before they become problems

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years of payroll processing experience, ideally in a company with 100 or more employees
  • Solid understanding of payroll accounting, not just payroll administration
  • Experience with a major payroll system such as ADP, Paylocity, Paycom, Paychex, or similar
  • Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Familiarity with California labor law and overtime rules is a strong plus
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred
  • CPP certification is a plus but not required
