Job Responsibility:
Process multi-state payroll for salaried and hourly employees on a bi-weekly or semi-monthly schedule
Reconcile payroll accounts, record journal entries, and support month-end close
Manage payroll tax filings, including 941s, state withholdings, and year-end W-2 processing
Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
Coordinate with HR on new hires, terminations, garnishments, and benefit deductions
Assist with audits by preparing payroll-related schedules and documentation
Identify and flag discrepancies before they become problems
Requirements:
2 to 5 years of payroll processing experience, ideally in a company with 100 or more employees
Solid understanding of payroll accounting, not just payroll administration
Experience with a major payroll system such as ADP, Paylocity, Paycom, Paychex, or similar
Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
Familiarity with California labor law and overtime rules is a strong plus
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred
CPP certification is a plus but not required
