Lisa Cole with Robert Half is partnering with an established and growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to manage end-to-end payroll operations. Job Responsibility:
Manage full-cycle payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely payroll execution
Process semi-monthly payroll and reconcile payroll prior to final transmission
Validate payroll reports and resolve discrepancies
Serve as the primary liaison with the payroll vendor
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
Process quarterly payroll tax filings, including state-specific reporting requirements
Administer wage garnishments, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Review and process non-standard payments (e.g., bonuses, retro pay, stipends, manual checks) with proper approvals
Support year-end processing including W-2s and 1099s
Maintain and reconcile payroll vendor statements
Act as the main point of contact for payroll and timekeeping inquiries
Provide training to employees on time and attendance systems
Review payroll data entries completed by HR for accuracy
Process payroll updates including wages, hours, tax withholdings, garnishments, and benefit deductions
Maintain compliance with wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and benefit-related requirements
Prepare reports and submit payments to government agencies and other entities as required
Manage time and attendance system setup, audits, and employee terminations
Support 401(k) administration, including audits, reporting, and employee updates
Assist with Workers’ Compensation audits and reporting
Reconcile benefit invoices and partner with HR/Benefits to resolve discrepancies
Generate ad hoc payroll and operational reports as needed
Requirements:
3+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a high-volume or multi-entity environment
Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
Experience managing garnishments, benefits deductions, and 401(k) administration
Proficiency with payroll systems and timekeeping platforms
High attention to detail with strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
