We are looking for a meticulous and adaptable Payroll Accountant to join our team in Charleston, South Carolina. This role requires a strong focus on payroll and accounts receivable (AR) for a dynamic organization that operates across multiple locations. Job Responsibility:

  • Manage payroll processes for over 260 employees, including salaried, hourly, and seasonal staff
  • Utilize Paylocity software to ensure accurate and efficient payroll operations
  • Support accounts receivable tasks, including cash deposits, posting payments, and assisting with collections
  • Prepare standard billing and posting reports while handling ad-hoc reporting requests
  • Collaborate with administrators across three locations to ensure smooth financial operations
  • Travel weekly to support payroll and accounting needs at two satellite locations
  • Maintain compliance with financial policies and procedures while addressing internal inquiries
  • Provide personable and efficient support to employees and parents regarding payroll-related matters
  • Work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field is required
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in complex payroll accounting
  • Familiarity with accounts receivable processes and general accounting principles is preferred
  • Proficiency in Paylocity or similar payroll software
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and interruptions in a fast-paced setting
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
