Job Description:

The Payment Posting Specialist is responsible for collecting on patient account balances, posting payments and overall patient account management.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintain records of medical billing and claims, settlements, and medical insurance payments
  • Answer questions from patients, clerical staff, and insurance companies
  • Identify and resolve patient billing questions
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Balance daily deposit and ensure daily close and claims run
  • Work closely with Patient Account Specialists by reporting insurance denials or incorrect insurance payments

Requirements:

  • Previous clinical or coding experience, required
  • At least 2 years' experience or payment posting in a healthcare setting
  • Proficient in understanding insurance explanation of benefits and denials
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD9 and ICD 10 codes
  • HIPAA and OSHA rules and regulations
  • Understands insurance fee schedules and contractual obligations
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Familiarity with billing applications and basic Microsoft Office and Windows applications
