The Pay & Reward Team plays an important role in achieving the outcomes of this strategy. As a Pay & Reward Assistant you will play a key role within our team to help us achieve the delivery of new projects, develop processes and improve our employee benefits offer. You will be a highly valued member of a small, enthusiastic team who continually seek to improve processes and develop the Pay & Reward offer at the Council. This opportunity is fixed term until September 2027 to cover a secondment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Providing advice and guidance to others on pay and reward related processes
  • Investigating and responding to pay related queries
  • Reviewing employee data to support reward processes and dealing with errors
  • Researching information sources to improve processes or to benchmark job roles
  • Promoting and supporting our employee benefits and recognition schemes
  • Supporting implementation and monitoring of our job evaluation processes
  • Assisting with the implementation of Pay & Reward policies and system improvements
  • Assisting with other pay related processes such as answering pay & reward related queries, undertaking pay benchmarking and assisting with the Council’s job evaluation process

Requirements:

  • Educated to A level or equivalent qualification / experience
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and HR policies, procedure and initiatives
  • Experience of providing HR or pay and reward advice and guidance
  • Experience of undertaking research, supporting improvements and changes to processes
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft, excel and analysing employee data
  • Experience of working in a human resource, pay and reward or payroll environment
  • Ideally, knowledge of local government
