Job Description:

The Pawsey Summer Internship Program offers promising undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to participate in real world projects and collaborate with leading researchers whilst using Pawsey’s world-class facilities. The program focuses on research projects targeting various computational domains including Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence, Code Optimisation, Data Management and Complex Workflows, Quantum Computing, and Visualisation.

Job Responsibility:

Participate in real world projects
Collaborate with leading researchers
Use Pawsey’s world-class facilities
Build skills and experience in computational science and research projects
Receive guidance on best practices for using Pawsey resources
Create and present videos and posters
Learn scientific communication techniques
Understand the importance of diversity and inclusion

Requirements:

Australian or New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or an international student with full work rights for the 10 weeks duration
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree at an Australian university
Completed 1 year (full-time equivalent) of an undergraduate course
Strong academic record (credit average or higher) and/or known capability in the field
Interest in pursuing a research career in science or technology, or a career in a related discipline
Able to undertake a full-time placement for 10 weeks over the university summer vacation period

Nice to have:

Interest in computational science and research projects
Experience in Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence (ML & AI), Code Optimisation, Data Management and Complex Workflows, Quantum Computing, Visualisation
