Job Responsibility:
Specifically responsible for transporting patients as assigned
Responsible for verifying patient identity using two patient identifiers
Provide and adjust transport equipment for safety and comfort of the patient i.e., appropriate line, side rails
Required to disinfect/wipe down equipment with approved cleaning product between patient transports
Assist patients onto transport equipment, request patient care assistance if additional help needed
Show ownership over transport equipment including routine cleaning, linen dressing, and reporting maintenance needs
Notify nursing or ancillary personnel upon arrival or departure of patients
Attend to care of documents relating to the patient e.g., ticket to ride
Report immediately any unusual symptoms of patients i.e., fainting, shortness of breath during transport
Provide, move, and care for transport equipment for patient movement
Utilize appropriate infection control precautions including hand hygiene, proper PPE, and isolation precautions
Safely transport patient oxygen after clinician setup
Provide feedback to management regarding equipment conditions and availability
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
BLS certification through American Heart Association or within 90 days of employment
Ability to verify patient identity using two identifiers
Knowledge of infection control precautions
Ability to safely operate and maintain transport equipment
Good communication skills
Availability to work scheduled shifts including rotating weekends
Ability to report patient conditions accurately
Commitment to adhere to organizational ethics and compliance policies
At least 1 year experience with patient transport handling preferred
