Requirements:
High School Graduate or GED
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 60 days of hire
Demonstrates competence in the areas of critical thinking, interpersonal relationships, and technical skills
Demonstrates ability to provide care/service safely and efficiently
Presents a neat and clean appearance
Demonstrates and maintains a high level of professionalism
Takes initiative, stays productive
Keeps CTD radio on and wears earpiece at all times while at hospital
Uses appropriate radio etiquette
Properly identifies patient
Acknowledges and maintains the right to privacy and confidentiality
Notifies nursing staff of patient transports
Signs patient in and out of each patient care area
Attends to patient’s comfort and safety during transport
Assists other members of the Central Transportation Department
Informs receiving departments in person of a patient’s arrival
Informs nursing and/or technician of any change of status
Informs receiving department and the CTD Dispatcher of any delays, cancellations, and changes
Assumes responsibility for transportation activities
Maintains a patient-centered focus
Assists nursing personnel to position patients
Handles patient and non-patient moves with the same sense of urgency
Removes transportation equipment and returns them to proper locations
Performs daily work assignments in an efficient, organized manner
Interacts with physicians and other technical staff
Reports equipment malfunctions promptly
Attends annual refresher and as needed training
Answers pager in a timely and courteous fashion
Enters transportation data into CTD computer
Assists Supervisor with departmental training and orientation
Trains new employees
Performs Patient Transporter functions as requested
Capability to effective operate equipment while safely transporting patients
Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
