As a vital part of our hospital team, our Transporter position plays an essential role in facilitating the safe, timely, and efficient movement of patients and materials throughout the hospital. Job Responsibility:
Facilitate safe and timely movement of patients and materials within the hospital
Maintain patient confidentiality and respect privacy
Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and hospital staff
Operate transport and patient-handling equipment safely and efficiently
Identify and report broken equipment to remove it from circulation
Complete work assignments efficiently to meet patient and unit needs
Accurately document transport activities for departmental reference and quality improvement
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
Recognize the needs and behaviors of various age groups of patients
Good communication skills
Ability to anticipate patient, employee, and unit needs
Customer service skills
Must be able to read, write and speak English
Basic math skills
Flexible, versatile, reliable, and a team player
Utilize good judgment
CPR certification should be obtained within the first 90 days after new hire orientation
Ability to work weekends and holidays and different shifts
Ability to perform lifting and transfer activities related to patients
Safe body mechanics
Ability to perform very heavy lifting (up to 100 pounds occasionally and over 50 pounds frequently, over 20 pounds constantly)
Ability to maneuver and operate equipment used by the department
Routinely works with potentially infectious specimens and patients
Ability to assist in evacuating patients in emergencies
Work environment includes exposure to adverse, hazardous conditions
Continuous walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, twisting throughout shift
Prior experience with various patient age groups preferred
Ability to safely operate hospital equipment
Knowledge of safe body mechanics
