Patient Transporter

• Transport patients to and from requesting areas
• Ensure timely completion of tasks according to departmental policies and procedures
• Obtain essential information from Nurse regarding patient condition
• Communicate with patients to inform of reason for transport
• Communicate with staff to assure that patient is ready for transport
• Maintain unit sign-in/sign-out sheets
• Comply with work environment routines according to hospital, nursing division and departmental policies and procedures
• Safely and appropriately maintain and utilize equipment
• Use telephone and pager system
• Act as role model and precept the training, education and orientation of new staff as assigned
• Cooperate in resolving conflict with those involved in a constructive manner
• Maintain and enhance positive patient and staff interactions
• Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
• Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
• Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
• Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
• Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

• High School or GED Equivalent
• CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
• Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people

• Bilingual English/American Sign Language
• 1/2 year (6 months) directly related experience
• Nurse aide or patient transporter experience

Receive 17% Weekday Nights, 26% Weekend Nights and 15% Weekend Day shift differentials
