The Patient Service Representative is responsible for managing all aspects of a patient’s financial account. This role focuses on explaining financial information, verifying insurance coverage, educating patients on financial options, and ensuring accuracy and completeness of billing and documentation through follow‑up with patients and internal teams.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct patient consultations to review financial responsibilities, explain financial policies, and set clear expectations regarding payment protocols
Verify and document patient insurance benefits and update patient progress notes
Provide patients with cost estimates for upcoming treatments
Collect estimated patient liabilities and accurately apply payments to patient accounts throughout the treatment plan
Allocate and post payments appropriately once cleared
Run and compile weekly reconciliation reports to ensure patient financial obligations are accurately tracked and fulfilled
Review patient accounts efficiently, identify outstanding balances, and follow up with finance teams on claims, insurance issues, and patient correspondence
Respond to patient calls and correspondence regarding billing questions, financial policies, and claims submissions
Exercise sound judgment and decision‑making to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and quality outcomes
Requirements:
Associate’s degree or higher is required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is essential
Experience with electronic healthcare records systems is preferred
Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and with a sense of urgency
At least three years of experience in a related field is required
